It’s My Birthday!
How do you choose an appropriate activity for three sisters and four brothers celebrating three birthdays?
Our Director of Sibling Care, Julie Eaton, solved that puzzle with a massive dose of creativity and time.
The sisters wanted to go to the mall, but the brothers didn’t. So Julie decided to make it fun for everyone by creating a scavenger hunt!
Julie went to the mall to “scope it out” a month earlier. She visited each store and spoke with the managers, finding six stores to participate. The day before the group birthday party, she went into the six stores and purchased small items for each child. Most of the stores donated extra items too.
At home that night, Julie wrote clues for all the participating shops. The children had to decipher Julie’s clues, then go into each store and state proudly, “It’s my Birthday!” which was the signal for the cashier to present the goody bags.
The children divided into two groups and passed each other smiling as they crisscrossed the mall. They ended at Chick-fil-A and opened up their bags together. They liked this part the best!
We think Julie’s creative birthday celebration really takes the cake!
