Sib-Link Referral

The goal of Sib-Link is to restore sibling bonds when children are in separate foster or kinship care placements.

Sib-Link complements current efforts by the State to bring siblings together.

Anyone can make a referral: family, foster parents, kinship providers, CASA, guardian ad litems, lawyers, judges, and, of course, case managers and supervisors.

After we receive a referral, we email the State's case manager to better understand benefits to the children and any concerns or reasons to not go forward. We then inform all parties of the decision.

Sib-Link has four options to re-connect separated sibling groups.

Option 1: In-Person Visits Led by Fostering Great Ideas * Fostering Great Ideas organizes and supervises engaging, monthly sibling visits when siblings do not see each other monthly. This option is reserved for the sibling sets of parents who are not working towards their reunification plan. This option is currently offered in Upstate, SC. Caregivers willing to help us with transport for these visits receive an appreciation gift of $10 for every 20 miles traveled to help us make the visits happen.

Option 2: In-Person Visits Led by Caregivers * Fostering Great Ideas helps Foster and Kinship Caregivers organize and lead sibling visits. We reimburse all caregivers for their mileage and the activity. This option is for any separated sibling set across the state. Caregivers receive an appreciation gift of $10 for every 20 miles traveled, and monetary reimbursement for food and activity up to $100 per visit (receipts required).

Option 3: Virtual Visits * Fostering Great Ideas coordinates regular sibling video calls, providing interactive games and activities. This is a good option if siblings live far away. This option is for any separated sibling set across the state.

Option 4: Virtual Birthday Celebration * When a child's birthday is coming up and no visit is planned, a Sib-Link Virtual Birthday Celebration still allows for fun together. Fostering Great Ideas coordinates a video call and provides interactive games and activities. The birthday child receives a gift (via Fostering Great Ideas) from their siblings. This option is for any separated sibling set across the state.
