Workshops & Training
Through workshops and training sessions, Fostering Great Ideas is able to equip others to make a difference for children in foster care.
Life in Limbo®
Life in Limbo® is an interactive workshop by Fostering Great Ideas® that gives individuals that opportunity. In this role play about foster care, participants step into the shoes of birth parents, foster parents, and the displaced children, learning what it feels like to live their lives.
Advocacy in Action®
Advocacy in Action® is part of Speak Up®, a training designed for youth in foster care and alumni. It's a two part webinar series where you learn what advocacy is, how to find you voice, and what you can do to be part of reform. Once you take the training, you can become part of our SpeakUp network, which drives our legislative and policy changes. Review this PowerPoint presentation for more information.
Hosted by Care2Foster® Ambassadors, meetups take place in homes, parks, etc. and are family-friendly. Foster parents connect with other foster parents, and people interested in fostering are invited to join. Meetups are a local, relational way to connect and build in-person relationships among foster parents.
Training & Discussion Calls
We just started a series called “Great Foster Parents,” where each week, a new topic related to fostering is discussed and any foster parents are welcome to join. We discuss topics like how to say goodbye to a child, parenting a child through trauma, etc. These events are promoted through our state SHAREfostering foster parent communities on Facebook.
